Creating a Private Class
A Private Class allows you to present an offering to a specific group of investors rather than open the offering up to all active investors on the Investor Portal. By placing individuals into the Private Class, you are allowing any connected investor profile that the individual is a responsible party for access to the offering as well. [For example, I place John Smith into the Private Class. John is a Responsible Party for Smith Family Trust, Smith IRA and Smith Investments, LLC. Therefore, all four investment profiles (individual, trust, IRA and entity) will have access to the Private Class.]
Step-By-Step Instructions
1. Find the project you will be working in by selecting the Projects tab. Next, choose Project List from the drop-down menu. From here, you can select the project that you would like to work on.
2. Select the entity of the raise from the Project Summary page. Then click on the three dots in the top right corner of the page and select Edit Classes.
3. Find the class you want to make a private raise for, and select the "Is this a private class?" checkbox to ensure that the class is set up for a private raise.
4. You will see two boxes appear underneath the selected checkbox. The left side allows you to search for investors you would like to add to the private class. You are able to choose from existing Segments or from your CRM. Once you have selected the desired number of investors you would like to add, select the right arrow to move the investor(s) into the private class.
Pro Tip: If you have recently added an investor or a Segment to your CRM, and you are not seeing that contact in this list, try refreshing your browser to resolve the issue.
Note: If an investor is in more than one class (for example, a private class and a public class), they will see both on the dashboard. If you would prefer not to have this, either remove the investor from one of the classes, or simply unpublish the class.
5. Lastly, select Save at the bottom right of the page, and publish the project on the Project Summary page. You may do this by selecting the Publish button at the top right of this page, after saving your class information.
